School Programmes for Articulation, Resilience and Kindness (SPARK) is a Government of Meghalaya initiative that endeavours towards nurturing a skilled, employable pool of young adults with the potential to contribute towards the economy of the State and their personal wellbeing.

Our Vision

Igniting Change
The Government of Meghalaya, through the Department of Education, envisions a unique intervention that empowers them with the confidence to speak well, the resilience acquired through healthy coping habits when confronted with change, fear or crisis, and the human values to safeguard their emotional wellbeing. Such an intervention would, in parallel, observe tenets of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in reference to the “development of cognitive capacities such as critical thinking, creative mindsets and problem solving, and social, ethical, and emotional capacities”. The NEP 2020 further states that “education must build character, enable learners to be ethical, rational, compassionate, and caring, while at the same time prepare them for gainful, fulfilling employment”.

About the SPONSOR
With the objective to augment the current education framework with special emphasis on the tenets of the National Education Policy 2020, the State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya (SEMAM)-Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) envisions SPARK as the catalytic engine for the youth of our State.

About the Implementing Agency
Headquartered in Meghalaya, Avenues is North East India’s pioneering life coaching and personal excellence training social enterprise. Over the course of 21 years, AVENUES has been committed to creating, initiating and deploying high-impact interventions that contribute to wellbeing, confidence and personal growth for everyone.

"SPARK is part of a much larger vision for our state’s future - a vision that looks beyond figures and projects to focus on the people. As we move towards that goal, our responsibility is not only to create jobs but to nurture citizens who are confident, compassionate, and capable of leading meaningful lives. SPARK represents that commitment. It embodies our promise of joyful and quality learning at all levels, ensuring that our young people grow with a strong sense of purpose and possibility. When I see the change in these students - the confidence in their voice, the self-belief in their eyes - it reminds me why investing in our youth is central to building a strong, inclusive, and prosperous Meghalaya."
Shri Conrad K Sangma
Hon'ble Chief Minister
Government of Meghalaya

"It gives me great pride to see how SPARK continues to evolve as a movement that touches the lives of thousands of students across our state. The programme lays emphasis on employability, emotional intelligence, and real-world problem-solving. Through the pillars of Articulation, Resilience, and Kindness, SPARK empowers every child to discover their voice, their purpose, and their potential. As we expand SPARK’s reach to SSA schools this year, our focus remains clear: to create learning environments that are inclusive, experiential, and future-oriented. Together, we are not only improving learning outcomes – we are building a better Meghalaya, one student at a time."
